Since 1988, Southeast Seniors has been helping over 300 seniors annually live well at home with an enhanced quality of life. Please join us.

Southeast Seniors, A Living at Home Block Nurse Program was created by the Southeast Minneapolis neighborhood in 1988 to help neighborhood seniors have help to stay living at home and to provide an alternative to having to move to a nursing home. We serve the neighborhoods of Como, Marcy Holmes and Prospect Park in Minneapolis and are part of the Living at Home Network of 43 similar programs around the state. We contract with Fairview Home Care for in-home nursing services.

We all know how health care costs have been increasing. This hits our seniors hard. At Southeast Seniors, we bill Medicare and other insurance for medical home care services. But, insurance does not cover a lot of the services seniors need to stay at home. This is where you can help your neighbors. Your contributions allow Southeast Seniors to fill in the gaps. With your assistance, we can subsidize care for seniors with our sliding fee scale and keep them safely in their homes as well as provide a range of volunteer and in-home services.

"I didn’t think I would need your services, but I am so glad you were there to help.” Mary, a senior

“When I called from California concerned about my mom, your nurse went to see her the next day. You arranged for services so that she could stay in her home.” Diane, a daughter

“You have sent two wonderful volunteers my way. I don’t know what I would do without them.” Bill, a senior

“I am so glad you were there to help my neighbor. What would we have done without you?” Nancy, a caregiver

When US healthcare is under extreme scrutiny - How important to give to this "neighbor helping neighbor" organization that helps to make life safe and pleasant for seniors who want to remain in their homes. As a side benefit - it saves taxpayers money. Rather than medicaid paying for nursing home care. In home care is provided at a fraction of the cost using a sliding fee scale!!!
