Southeast Area YMCA (Woodbury)

Just over two years ago, I found myself at a crossroad. I was overweight, had never worked out or even been in a weight room or attended a group fitness class. I had an infant son and an 8 year old daughter to care for and I decided that I needed to make a change.

My family had been involved with the YMCA for many years. My father had worked at Camp St. Croix as a youth and my oldest daughter regularly attended camps at Camp St. Croix. It was a no brainer for me to join the YMCA and I was so grateful to the caring staff and other members who helped me each step of the way towards my fitness goals.

What i found out during this process turned out to be even more significant than just the value of having fitness become a regular routine in my life. I have found friendships and support at the YMCA. It not only keeps me fit, but keeps me sane as well!

Since joining the YMCA, I now work out 5-6 days a week. I regularly utilize personal training and TRX training. Last summer, I even completed the Croixathon Triathalon to help raise money for Camp St. Croix (and as a 40th birthday present to myself). My children enjoy attending Kids Stuff at the YMCA and they look forward to going to childcare while I work out.

Because the YMCA is so important in my life, I believe strongly in its mission to provide low or no-cost programming to individuals and families in need.
