Raising donations of money, holiday gifts, clothing and food for Long Islanders displaced by SuperStorm Sandy
SuperStorm Sandy devestated Long Island, and many other communities up and down the East Coast. On a day typically devoted to bargains on flat screens and the latest gadgets, we want to bring the Long Island community together to help those displaced by this once in a lifetime storm.
In petition of Black Friday, and in support of our community, we are looking for volunteers and fundraisers to run a 5K on Black Friday. The idea is to raise awareness through our actions while collecting financial donations and gifts of food, clothing, and holiday gifts for children. For those who want to donate money, they can use this page to donate to Long Island Cares, our local food bank. For those who want to drop off other gifts and donations, come by the Holtsville Ecology Center on the morning of November 23 and cheer us on as we run laps on the track.
I want to urge as many of you reading this to run with me. The more who run, the more awareness we can raise, and the larger our impact on a community in need.
