We manage fellowships, internships, & other academic appointments for the Smithsonian’s 19 museums, 9 research centers, & the National Zoo.
In the American spirit, the Smithsonian is a universal lens that sparks the learning in everyone. As a steward for our nation’s treasures, in our groundbreaking scientific research, and through our far-reaching educational programs – we are in the business of exciting the learning in everyone.
Every year the Smithsonian Office of Fellowships and Internships (OFI) coordinates over 75 different internship programs and upwards of 50 different fellowship programs across the institution. By providing financial support and by widely circulating information about Smithsonian Internships and Fellowships, OFI works to broaden access to these amazing opportunities to an ever expanding diversity of communities.
We strive to make academic appointments at the Smithsonian prestigious, but not exclusive. Our ability to make sure academic appoint programs remain open to the greatest number of learners depends on supporters like you.
Those who have participated in internship or fellowship programs in the past, even if not at the Smithsonian, know firsthand the lifelong difference these experiences can make for so many. If you are in a position to support these programs, you can take great satisfaction in knowing that your generosity will truly make a difference toward the exciting increase and widespread diffusion of knowledge.
