Silver Swan is a small group of solo singers who perform vocal music in a wide range of styles. We've sung music from 15th century France, 16th century Italy, 19th century Germany, and more. We work as a chamber ensemble, performing music as both soloists and as an ensemble. We're committed to performing with expressiveness, immediacy, humor, and beauty. Through our performances, we try to inspire our audiences to make connections between the historical and the immediate.
This season, Silver Swan is producing four different programs, each with a different story to tell. In January, we'll be exploring the musical life of the last empress of Russia, Alexandra, who went from a youth filled with travel and singing to a tragic end. In early spring, we'll sing serenades from Renaissance Italy and Romantic Germany. In late spring, we look at our home country's early history and the different ways composers tried to invent American culture. In December, we join our audience in celebrating the holiday season with shared carols and unusual seasonal music from many eras.
We love supporting Springboard for the Arts because they give new, small organizations like ours a chance to grow and develop while we continue our artistic mission. Minnesota and its artists are lucky to have Springboard here.
