Chin Nong & Heng Sok the mother and father of Vanna Nong, Vanny Po, Vannoeun Nong, Hong Nong, Thany Nong, and Sam Nong would like

To express their thanks to UCAM past and present staff and board members, the members of the Cambodian Buddhist Society, members the Church of Nazarene, the Cambodian Assembly of God, community members and friends, who assist them in the resettlement in MN and Special Appreciation to the Refugee and Immigrant Resource Center (RIRC) now UCAM, who sponsored all the OP1 cases to Minnesota in 1991.

“Without their help, we might have to face the repatriation and live miserable life like many others, whom we had known in the refugee camp in Thailand”.

The Chin’s arrived to Minnesota August 6th. 1991. The youngest child, Sam Nong, was 4 years old, now in his 3rd. year at Normandale College, Thany Nong is attending the army (Cavalry scout) starting this August. They all work hard getting their education. Now, the adults are employed and own homes. They live harmoniously as a family and also fulfill their duty as good U.S. Citizens.

Their noble attitude attracts Mrs. Mundstock and others to step in and form an organizing committee for this celebration. They then expanded it further to HONOR the passed away leaders and supporters, namely Bob Popken a UCAM Board Member, Meng Kruy Ung and Darina Siv, the deceased UCAM Executive Directors, and the late Glenda Potter, then SMRLS Managing Attorney.
