Striving to do God's amazing work, wherever He sends me. "And I said, 'Here am I. Send me!' " {Isaiah 6:8}

Long Story Short:

Below is a summary of the trip and what we're about, but long story short: Gordon has developed a partnership with a Church/School for Haitian refugee children and has been going there for the last couple of years to do construction projects as well as outreach to the children and the community. The trip will be from March 8th-16th of 2013, and the total amount of money required per person is $1698 so any and all donations are hugely appreciated in any amount! Thank you so much!

My Story

After seeing my brother go down to do this trip 3 years in a row and seeing the pictures and the videos and hearing his stories, I felt like God might be calling me to do missions work, and after getting accepted to Gordon and having this opportunity to go on this trip I felt like it might be what I wanted to do. So after a lot of prayer and consideration, I really felt like God wanted to send me to the Dominican Republic, so I applied and got accepted and here I am! And here you are reading my story, so that's really cool!

What we'll be doing:

Over the past several years, Gordon College has developed a relationship with a Haitian church in the Dominican Republic, The Iglesia Bautista Cristo para las Naciones or for those of you who don't speak much Spanish (like myself) the "Christ for the Nations Baptist Church." This year, we're going again to continue the relationships and the work that we've been doing the last couple years. We're going from March 8-16, and we will travel to the Dominican Republic to San Pedro de Macoris, to serve and learn alongside Haitians and Dominicans.

In addition to doing construction projects and helping in the school run by the church, we will visit a sustainable fair-trade farm, tour an international Christian non-governmental organization involved in reforestation projects and gain perspective on U.S.-Caribbean relations through meeting with U.S. government officials.

The cost of the trip is $1,700 per person to cover the cost of travel, food and housing, so absolutely any donation of ANY amount would be hugely aprpeciated! We hope to have the entire cost raised by February 22.
