There were 84 people in our community without shelter in January 2009. Of these, 24 were children. Our winters are cold and life threatening and we want everyone to be safe.

This new program in International Falls depends on volunteers and donations to help people meet their basic needs like safety, warmth, a bed, and food. We also provide companionship and help them find the community resources they need.

The Evangelical Covenant Church, Faith United Church of Christ and KOOTASCA Community Action are concerned that we have this need in our community. International Falls has been hit hard by the recent economic downturn. More and more people are coming to our doors asking for help, some for the first time. We turn away more than 30% of those in need because we do not have the money to help them. State dollars for homeless prevention services have been cut during the state deficit in the last few years. Your contribution will help us maintain this crucial service in our local community.

We are a blessed community and we want to ensure that all our community members have these basics. Please help us ensure that everyone in our community has their basic needs met like a bed and food to eat.
