Matthew 19:14: Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
When one of the core team members from “Beloved” mentioned a missions trip to Kenya to visit the family home and spend time with the orphans, I was really excited!
Why?! Because I have been waiting for more opportunities to be used by God to serve His people—especially orphans and foster children.
When I was in high school, I attended several annual mission trips during the winter to rural areas of Northern California. We would organize VBS and Youth Rallies for the kids/teens. Many of the kids who attended our VBS/Youth Rally were foster children or children who lived with other family members/friends because their parents weren’t able to take care of them. It was from these mission trips that my love began to grow for orphans and foster kids. Besides wanting to comfort and care for them, I wanted them to know our heavenly Father who could bring them hope, who would love them unconditionally, who would never leave them or forsake them, and who would fulfill their greatest need and desire. I wanted them to receive Christ as their Savior so that they too may cry out “Abba Father”. (Romans 8:15. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba!”)
In college my yearning to help these “broken” children without homes/families grew. I focused on China. I started researching about mission opportunities and volunteer positions at orphanages in China. God knowingly closed that door for me. However He opened other doors.
When I moved to Torrance, God has continued to burden my heart for orphans/foster children. He did this with reminders from my church here—through the messages specifically on orphans and on evangelism and through the testimonies and love of the Christian families that have adopted children.
. Through this trip I want God to use me to further His kingdom and share the Good News of Christ so that He would be glorified!
Thank you so much for your consideration in your financial support! I truly appreciate it! If you desire a prayer letter, please let me know! J
As it is written in Isaiah 52:7 “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.”
