I’ll travel to Zimbabwe and South Africa in October to serve at three women’s conferences; equipping women for ministry and restoring hope.
"The place God calls you to is where your deep gladness and the world's deep hunger meet." Frederick Buechner
Unfortunately, women in Africa and South Africa often do not enjoy the same equality and freedoms that we all have in America – this severely limits opportunities for women’s ministry.
While in Zimbabwe, my team will help facilitate a conference on equipping women for ministry. In South Africa, we’ll lead two conferences on women’s brokenness. These conferences provide us with the unique opportunities for one-on-one prayer counseling and support of the women who attend. I’m especially excited to use my God-given gifts of compassion, mercy and wisdom to help restore their value, dignity and hope; just as God has restored mine.
This past year, I’ve felt more called than ever to serve in women’s ministry. A line from one of my favorite worship songs has become my prayer:
“Heal my heart and make it clean; open up my eyes to the things unseen; show me how to love like You have loved me; break my heart for what breaks Yours; everything I’m for Your kingdom's cause; as I walk from earth into eternity…”
I’m happy to share that God has honored this prayer by softening my heart toward the needs of others, inspiring me to start a new women’s ministry at my church and to lead women’s bible study. The more I’ve done, the more I feel lead to do. This mission trip is another step toward growing outside of my comfort zone, preparing me for what will come next.
With that said, I’d like to ask for your support in two ways. First, would you please keep me in prayer? I cannot do this without the prayers of others. Second, would you please consider helping to support me financially?
While I'm working hard to earn this money through various individual and team fundraisers, personal donations of any amount will get me one step closer to meeting my individual obligation.
Thanks so much for your support! I look forward to sharing my experience with you through written word and photographs!
