SENA-STANDISH-ERICSSON NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION
The Standish and Ericsson neighborhoods - Minneapolis' best kept secret. You donation helps us keep our neighborhoods strong and vibrant.
"The Standish-Ericsson Neighborhood Association brings neighbors together to build on the strengths of the Standish and Ericsson neighborhoods – stability, diversity and concern for others." (SENA Mission Statement)
We are neighborhood-based and volunteer-driven. We rely on resident volunteers and donors to achieve our mission.
The SENA News is our outstanding neighborhood newsletter - written and edited by an extraordinary team of neighborhood volunteers. SENA News is mailed to all 4400 addresses in the neighborhood and helps neighbors connect with each other and learn about the "local" news.
SENA administers the Neighborhood Revitalization Program (NRP), First Step, Phase I and Phase II. This brought over $4.5 million dollars to the Standish and Ericsson neighborhoods to assist with playground improvements at Lake Hiawatha Park, fix-up dollars for local homeowners, special programs for local schools, efforts to improve water quality of our lakes and creek, fix-up dollars for local business owners, special street lighting projects, bike racks for businesses, and much more. The plans and priorities for spending this money were created by the residents of our community.
SENA has partnered with Redesign to apply for and receive Minneapolis Great Streets funds to bring over $150,000 of business support and façade grants to our valuable local businesses. This partnership has also been instrumental in forming the West of the Rail Business Association.
SENA partners with the Corcoran Neighborhood Organization to sponsor the “largest neighborhood garage sale” in Minneapolis. This event started as part of our efforts to help reduce waste and encourage residents to “reduce, reuse, recycle.”
SENA's Graffiti Task Force installed 7 murals, painted by neighborhood volunteers with the assistance of artist Elise Kyllo. The murals not only bring public art to the neighborhood, they have helped reduce the amount of graffiti dramatically.
SENA is here to listen to residents and bring neighbors together to address the concerns of the neighborhood.
