You may "Add a Disgnation" or a "Dedication" to your gift by checking the appropriate box and typing your preference in the text box. Selecting the monthly giving option ensures ongoing support of our musical programming our community loves.
All of The Schubert Club's programs are made possible by generous donors like you. Ticket admissions make up only 20% of our budget, so your support is valuable!
The Schubert Club Mission: To promote the art of music, particularly recital music, through concert, museum and education programs -- and to maintain a high standard of excellence.
For 129 years, The Schubert Club has brought virtually all of the world's great recitalists to the Saint Paul stage-Arthur Rubinstein, Cecelia Bartoli, Isaac Stern, Beverly Sills, Yo-Yo Ma and Renee Fleming to name a few.
No longer an actual club, all artistic offerings are open to the public, enriching and educating 37,000 people in the Twin Cities annually. Each year, over 380 artists are given the opportunity to perform, more than 7,000 youth are served through the Schubert Club education programs, family concerts, school workshops and museum programs, and over 1,000 people each month visit our state-of-the-art museum. Low-ticket prices, subsidized education programs and free admission to the museum and Courtroom Concerts make ourprograms accessible to the general public.
Our leading concert series is the International Artist Series. Nearly sold-out annually on subscription, the series is presented in the beautiful Ordway Center in downtown Saint Paul. It is the largest of our concert series, which also include Music in the Park Series chamber music concerts, the 32 free weekly noontime Courtroom Concerts, the Hill House Series, the United Hospital Series, Accordo and others. Many are recorded for later radio broadcast on MPR and heard by millions.
On July 1, 2010, Music in the Park Series merged with The Schubert Club. Music in the Park Series has presented the world's most outstanding chamber music performances in the Saint Anthony Park neighborhood of Saint Paul since 1979.
The impressive Schubert Club Museum in the Landmark Center houses a collection of historic musical instruments, and composer letters and manuscripts from around the world by great composers including Beethoven, Mozart and Debussy. A "living museum" of replica period keyboards is available for artists to rehearse and record, keeping the instruments and music alive for this generation and the next. We are committed to keeping the admission to the Museum free to the public.
For 43 years, our outreach education program, Project CHEER, has provided free music lessons for students at the Martin Luther King Center in Saint Paul. The Schubert Club awards $70,000 in scholarships to young musicians each year, including $50,000 to winners of the prestigious annual Bruce P. Carlson Student Scholarship Competition. In addition, The Schubert Club offers free master classes with leading artists and student discounts at its concerts. Over 2,500 students a year utilize our collection of Indonesian gamelan instruments through school residencies.
Music in the Park Series Family Concerts serve audiences of all ages, toddlers to retirees, who sit up-close and personal with the musicians and learn about the instruments, what it's like to be a performer and experience performances by professional visiting artists.
The Schubert Club is committed to new, quality music and supports composers-in-residence, actively commissions new works, publishes books and monographs, and produces recordings under its Ten Thousand Lakes label. Two of our commissioned compositions have been awarded Pulitzer Prizes. The Schubert Club is a member of The Arts Partnership with The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Minnesota Opera and The Ordway Center for the Performing Arts.
The Schubert Club is committed to fiscal responsibility, having ended every year since inception with a balanced budget. The Schubert Club Endowment helps supplement our annual fund, ensuring our ability to share the finest musical arts.
Subscriptions and single tickets are available to our concerts. Visit our website, or for International Artist Series tickets, call the Ordway Center box office at 651-224-4222.
