Over the past few weeks we've taken in quite a few dogs and cats and tis the season for URI (upper respiratory infection). This is very treatable but with so many on meds our vet bills are creeping up.

We've also taken in several heartworm positive dogs and their treatment is very costly (hundreds of dollars for each dog). Whenever we take a dog in it's like winning or losing the lottery based on the heartworm test results. If we don't get financial help via donations we will have to slow our intake for a while.

The dog pictured is Dory, she's 2 yrs old and was going to die at a local shelter due to lack of space. We took her in but now have a big vet bill as she's heartworm positive and requires expensive treatment to get her healthy again.
