For my birthday, I would like some school...for 58 amazing kids in the Congo!
This year, our team returned to Uvira in the eastern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo with a larger team. Our team fell deeper in love with the Lord and our hearts were completely captured by the 58 orphans at the Congo for Christ Center. Our team is fully invested and committed to the Center and the church that runs it. Our partners and friends see the potential of the children to be future leaders of Congo and to bring light and hope to Congo themselves.
We recently learned that this year’s school fees for each child increased significantly, beyond the their resources. The total cost is close to $7500 for the entire school year. So we’ve decided to fundraise via the Tough Mudder. We realize that this is a temporary band-aid but the issue is immediate. Behind the scenes, we are intensely researching, making local and international connections, attending meetings and orphan care conferences, in hopes of creating sustainability for this community. Nonetheless, in order for Godly Congo future leaders to be developed, education is essential for each child.
So for my birthday, I'm asking for school...for these kids. If you feel compelled to help us with this goal, all I ask is for you to donate $5 or $10 and spread the word to your friends and networks. Small steps made in a collective effort can make a big impact...like a FLASHMOB! Thanks for your friendship and support over the years. Clearly, I'm crazy about these kids.
