I'm running the half- marathon to support CPS-- providing an excellent independent education to low-income children in North Philadelphia.

Community Partnership School is a unique and innovative model for urban educational reform in North Central Philadelphia. Founded through a partnership between Germantown Academy, a successful suburban private school, and Project HOME, a social services agency dedicated to eliminating homelessness, CPS is an independent elementary school for children from low-income, low-wealth backgrounds.

Noteworthy aspects of the CPS program include a 6:1 student-teacher ratio, significant parent involvement, and an extensive After School Program. Small class sizes and two teachers per class create challenging and nurturing learning environments where students are encouraged to be curious, courageous, and compassionate. Parent Nights, conferences, home visits, and a growing Parent Council help create a community of parents and guardians who work closely with the school. During our daily After School Program, CPS students take part in a variety of enrichment opportunities, all included in the cost of tuition. Ballet, tennis, martial arts, African dance & drumming, and swimming are just a few of the activities that CPS students engage in each year.

"I really love CPS because we have great technology," says Na'Quan, a recent CPS graduate. "We have computers everywhere, smart boards, and math and reading games. I also love that our teachers are so nice – I love my teachers and they love me.

Before CPS, I attended a not-so-good school. Bad things happened there such as cursing, things were stolen, and sometimes there were fights! When our teachers were sick and didn’t come to school, we were moved to classrooms with other students. I didn’t like those days at my old school because so many students were in one room together. I am happy to say that CPS is VERY different! I think CPS is a great school. I think all kids deserve to go to CPS."

Please support students like Na'Quan by giving today!
