Dawn's $1K Dash for the Doggies

No, this isn't a foot race. It is a personal fundraising challenge for the best non-profit rescue shelter in Austin!

Austin Pets Alive! has been instrumental in helping Austin achieve (and maintain!) a “no-kill” status and has recently picked up the gauntlet in the nationwide ASPCA Challenge. With a goal of saving 2000 animals between August 1st and October 31st, APA! must raise an additional $100,000 to cover the expense of saving this many lives.

I volunteer about 20 hours each week to train, nurture, and promote the higher-needs shelter dogs at APA!. These fur babies are near and dear to my heart because they are truly wonderful dogs that just need a little extra help in the behavior department. Any money pledged through my site will go directly into a fund dedicated to these dogs with special training needs and will go a long way in helping them find their forever homes. Mindy, the dog pictured with me above, is a perfect example of a high-need dog who benefitted from this program and recently found an amazing family to call her own.

I am truly honored to be a part of the APA! family and help effect such a positive change in my community. I cannot think of a more important way to spend my spare time or a more worthy, local cause to which I can devote myself. I (and the doggies) sincerely appreciate anything you can contribute!
