Save a Life Drive 2010!

The picture above is of Benji, an Austin Pets Alive rescue who became the proud mama of TWELVE pups! She was on the euthanasia list because of her pregnancy, and through APA I got the chance to foster her and her pups earlier this spring. (It was my first time experiencing and helping out with a dog birth- what an amazing experience!) Anyway, I'm happy to report that all 13 of them found their forever homes, and this couldn't have happened without APA.

This year, APA has also stepped in to save three other dogs that I found as strays, and they all have been adopted as well. I can't say enough good things about this organization. Please help me to reach my goal of $500 to help save 5 more dogs (or cats) this fall. Every little bit helps!

As the new Austin Pets Alive building is coming together, we are more and more capable of saving that many more pets from euthanasia. The Save a Life Drive gives us the ability to continue saving lives when adoptions and donations tend to decrease in the fall after school starts. As you can imagine, the numbers of animals needing to be saved does not correspondingly decrease this time of year so it is even more critical that we band together to give all those dogs and cats a happy ending.

Each animal costs us about $100 for spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchipping, testing, and parasite treatments. If we raise those funds, it will be that much easier for APA to continue paying the costs for housing, adoption sites, vehicles, and all the other costs that go into saving lives.

My goal is to raise $500 to save 5 lives!
