Save a Life Drive 2010!
Dear friends and family,
As you may know, I have been fostering dogs for Austin Pets Alive! since the spring. APA! rescues and rehabilitates animals from the kill list at Town Lake Animal Shelter, gives them medical and/or behavioral assistance, and finds them adoptive homes. This is an organization entirely run by volunteers and donations. They just acquired a permanent building in South Austin and are looking to save many more lives as a result, which will cost money. Therefore I have joined their Save a Life Drive.
Will and I have successfully fostered 4 doggies who found loving forever homes, including my little Benji, pictured here. He came to APA! with behavioral and emotional issues, and had been returned by previous owners who didn't have the patience to help him. Although it has been challenging and we are still working with him, I can't imagine my life without my baby dog! Your donation, however small, can help me reach my personal goal of $500, which will save the life of 5 more dogs. I know it's not much, but every little bit counts. I am allergic to fun runs, marathons and anything like that, so this is the way I can help. Thankfully I don't have to run, but I promise that I will keep doing everything I can to save helpless dogs. Please spread the word and see if your friends and co-workers can help me too!
Many thanks, Claudia, Will, Rosie and Benji
As our new building is coming together, we are more and more capable of saving that many more pets from euthanasia. The Save a Life Drive gives us the ability to continue saving lives when adoptions and donations tend to decrease in the fall after school starts. As you can imagine, the numbers of animals needing to be saved does not correspondingly decrease this time of year so it is even more critical that we band together to give all those dogs and cats a happy ending.
Each animal costs us about $100 for spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchipping, testing, and parasite treatments. If we raise those funds, it will be that much easier for APA to continue paying the costs for housing, adoption sites, vehicles, and all the other costs that go into saving lives.
My goal is to raise $500 to save 5 lives!
