Help support Sosan's monastic training this summer.
Ryumonji offers a wonderful setting for long and short term practice in a rural monastic setting. Ryumonji operates on purely a donation basis, which means that people only pay what they are moved to give. Sosan will be spending about 5 weeks this summer in residential training and even with her limited means has made a donation of $100. She recognizes that this opportunity is worth so much more! Therefore, she is asking her friends and family, and members of Clouds in Water Zen Center and Compassionate Ocean Dharma Center to help her raise money to support Ryumonji and residential training. She would like to raise an additional $500, for total $600 donation. If you give through this website, or send or bring a check to Clouds in Water marked "Sosan at Ryumonji," you can help her meet this goal.
If you are a member of Clouds in Water or Compassionate Ocean, perhaps you are wondering why you should care about Ryumonji? Shoken Winecoff, the abbot of Ryumonji, is one of the dharma heirs of Katagiri-roshi, and thus is in the same family of practice as Clouds in Water and Compassionate Ocean, whose main teachers have all studied with Katagiri. Although both Clouds and CODC are city centers, it is great to have rural places like Ryumonji and Hokyoji when practitioners wish to experience the deep quiet of the countryside.
