My goal is to promote the mission of Tenacity through running in the 2013 Boston Marathon. Please join my my support team!

Welcome to my 2013 “Tenacity Boston Marathon Team” webpage. Let me tell you a little bit about Tenacity, myself, and my decision to run for the Marathon Team!

Tenacity is a nonprofit organization that serves at risk Boston students with school year and summer programs in tennis, literacy and life skills. Be sure to scroll through the above photos, and to watch the YouTube video describing this powerful organization.

When I first learned about Tenacity’s mission, I was excited about supporting it because the program does for underprivileged kids what tennis, athletics, and Camp Carolina did for me growing up and also focuses on literacy skills, the incredibly important gateway to success in all academic subjects. Tenacity prides itself in:

  • Teaching the value of hard work
  • Providing a means of building self confidence
  • Developing relationships of trust and advocacy
  • Emphasizing the primacy of education for success in life
  • Showing what it means to be part of a team
  • Instructing in how to set goals and prioritize time
  • Offering ways to stay focused amidst the challenges of life
  • Communicating the importance of physical fitness for overall health
  • Nurturing a sense of community with positive values
  • And much more…

As some of you know, I spent most of my time growing up either at my family’s summer camp in the mountains in North Carolina, on the tennis court, or on some other athletic field. In addition, I’m an avid reader and believe strongly in literacy at an early age as the foundation to success in school and ultimately in life.

Like tennis, Camp and athletics, running has become an important part of my life over the years. It is a source of stress relief that contributes to my mental health, and a means of solitude and fitness that I can do anywhere, anytime. This will be my first entry into the realm of competitive running, my primary goal to simply cross the finish line. The 2013 Boston Marathon will be especially meaningful because the goal is about serving the underprivileged inner city Boston kids through Tenacity.

Please join me and my other teammates in supporting Tenacity as we run in the 2013 Boston Marathon. Our team hopes to raise $100,000 together, while my individual goal is to raise a minimum of $10,000. I believe that with your help, we can do it! Your tax deductible donation of any amount will be both used effectively and greatly appreciated, in addition to serving as an inspiration to me as I prepare for Race Day!

Click the “Donate” button to your right, or if you would prefer to give by check, you can make it out to: Tenacity, Inc., and add "2013 Boston Marathon / Ryal Tayloe" to the note line, mailing it to the address below.

THANK YOU for your consideration, and for taking the time to read my story.

Yours Tenaciously,

Ryal Tayloe
