Help send ten inner-city middle school students on a Spring Break trip they will never forget to the Heartland of America.
Urban Promise is a Christ centered organization committed to helping students and families in the inner city. They primarily minister through education.
This spring, from March 28 - April 7th, ten middle school students and four adult leaders will be exploring a part of our country that many of us have never seen. They will be spending time in both Kansas and Oklahoma. Some of the experiences they hope to have include going to a farm, learning Kansas history, seeing buffalo, riding four wheelers, baling hay and visiting two Christian colleges.
The total cost of the trip is $10,000. Close to $4,000 is needed for plane tickets alone. The other large expense will be paying for a fifteen passenger van. Each student who is going must pay at least $100, do ten hours of volunteer work and earn "camp dollars." These dollars are earned through having a good attitude and working hard at their After Care programs.
My family and I love Urban Promise because they are ministering to families mainly through teaching children about Christ and challenging them to see God's promising future for their lives. Please join us in supporting this worthy organization, and specifically, the students and staff going West.
If you are able to give, you can either sponsor me with a lump sum, or per mile. Lord willing, I will be running 26.2 miles in Washington D.C. on March 16th. Please do not wait until my race day to send your donation. They are in need of funds now.
Any amount is greatly appreciated. This website forced me to put a suggested donation amount of $10. You do not need to sponsor me this much per mile. Just one or two dollars per mile will go a long way.
Thank you in advance for your support and prayers. Please pray for those going on the trip that they will have an amazing experience and see the vastness of God in a new way. Please also pray that my hips hold out!
