Huffing and puffing for 13.2 miles for Cystic Fibrosis!
As a dietitian at Children's Hospital here in Atlanta, I have been given the special opportunity to work with children with Cystic Fibrosis (CF). If you are not familiar with CF, it is a disease which requires these kids go through breathing treatments, several times a day, in order to keep their lungs functioning. What may be an easily fought infection for a healthy individual, can put a CF kid in the hospital for 2 weeks at a time while they get IV-antibiotics. Yet, despite this life-long battle and frequent hospital visits, these are the most positive and resiliant kids I have ever met.
I have run races in the past for my own goals but I am running the March 18, 2012 Atlanta Half-Marathon for my kids with CF. Their strength and resolve will inspire me and power me up the hills of Atlanta.
Since these kids battle CF everyday, my goal is to raise $1 for each day of the year. Please join me in raising the funds to continue the fight against this disease.
