Running the 2012 Boston marathon to raise money for The Michael Lisnow Respite Center.

If you have read The Hunger Games, then you’ll have a feel for how I view the Boston Marathon. Many people know that the route starts in Hopkinton and winds its way through the suburbs, ending in Copley Square in downtown Boston. Some people may have even heard of "Heartbreak Hill" at mile 20, but most people have never heard of the other obstacles. The route includes stretches of Siberia-like frozen tundra, parched desert with less rainfall than the Atacama Desert, murky crocodile-filled swamps, plagues of pestilence of biblical proportions, and there's only one portable toilet for all 20,000 runners in the entire 26 miles and 385 yard route.

Ok, so maybe this isn't entirely factual, but it might as well be. I only started running a year ago, ran my first (and only) half marathon late in 2011. The chance to enter the Boston marathon is simultaneously exhilarating and terrifying, however, the chance to do it in order to raise money for the respite center makes in a real honor.
