The NYRC needs your support on two major initiatives vital to the continued growth and strength of the Club - FIELDS & COACHES.

The New York Rugby Club is in the middle of one of the most successful runs in recent memory....

  • The Men made it to the Div 1 Competitive Region Playoffs as the Northeast #2 seed.
  • The Women won the inaugural USA Rugby Women's Premier League national championships.
  • Alumni from our Boys and Girls U19 programs are playing in the Collegiate National Championship tournament.
  • A record 120 teams attended the 2009 NY 7s Tournament.

....and we look forward to building on this success as the NYRC claims its place as one of the best Clubs not only in New York City, but the whole USA. But two factors are vital to make that happen.

FIELDS and COACHING

FIELDS - As always in NYC, quality field space is a challenge. As a Club we joined with other teams in MetNY and pledged our financial resources towards making real rugby pitches on Randall's Island a reality. Many of you have probably come out to watch games on these very fields...they look great don't they? Yes they do - and we still have money to pay to make good on that pledge (a pledge which is the reason, by the way, that we are able to get all 5 of our teams a place to play every weekend, not to mention the ability to take over 12+ fields every November for the 7s.)

COACHES - The Men's and Women's Teams have been very lucky in the past to attract some of the best coaching talent available just based on our winning personalities. However, as both teams are engaged in a search for new coaching staffs, we need the resources available to attract the high caliber coaches that both of our senior teams need. In today's rugby world that means the money to pay for coach travel, related expenses, and likely a per diem.

So, what can you do?

Whatever you can give, it will make a real difference....For The Club!

Because my donation is tax deductible and there are NO FEES when you donate through Razoo! What would happen if everyone set up a recurring donation?

Because once upon a time we defined a "good" field as one without manhole covers in the middle (but as long as you could mark them off with a spare jersey, you still played)....because all those teams that came to the NY 7s for decades despite our fields, now can come because of them....because rugby finally has a home to be proud of in NYC.

I believe in this Club and all the great things we have achieved. On the field we are National Champions, playoff contenders, and newly minted U19 competitors. Off the field, we are mentors, coaches, referees & volunteers. Please consider helping the Club invest in excellent rugby programs with great coaching and beautiful field access. Please join me in donating if you can!
