As most of you know, my passion for (maybe, addiction to) running started in college. After years of denying I’d ever do it, I’ve finally decided to run a marathon! On April 18, 2011, I will be one of tens of thousands of runners tackling the 115th Boston Marathon.

I was lucky enough to join Summer Search Boston’s charity team this year. Summer Search Boston works with over 300 low-income high school students, providing them with weekly mentoring, scholarships to participate in fulfilling summer experiences, and college advising. 100% of Summer Search students graduate from high school and 89% from college! In comparison, the college graduation rate for students in Boston Public High Schools averages only 14%.

I have pledged to raise $3,250, and would greatly appreciate your help and support in getting there! Summer Search is an amazing organization making a tangible difference in the lives of hundreds of local students.

And, of course, if you find yourself in Boston on the day of, please come out and cheer me on! Apparently the entire city takes the day off to celebrate and watch the marathon, so you can count on a great time!
