Team Running for Cover is running the 2013 Boston Marathon to raise funds to support MFNE's mission of education, prevention and support.
Since it's inception in 2006, Running for Cover has raised over $1 million to support MFNE. I am thirlled to be a part of this team for the 2013 Boston Marathon.
As a physician, I have treated and cared for patients and families impacted by Melanoma. It is a devastating disease!
This April 15th I am running the Boston Marathon in dedication to people like my friend Peter Martin, a Stage 4 melanoma survivor, who has undertaken an arduous course in his fight against melanoma. Since his diagnosis, he has undergone multiple surgeries, significant therapies, and numerous setbacks. He has been able to deal with these rough patches with the support of his family and friends. During my run to the finish line in Boston, I may have similar "rough patches" along the way, but I hope to proceed as valiantly as Peter and the others have along their courses.
As a family member, I have a brother who has had a melanoma excised and is melanoma-free at this time! I have a son who has had dysplastic nevi removed and who requires routine skin surveillance by dermatologists to check for melanoma developing. I know the impact and I wish to positively affect the outcomes for people who otherwise might develop this disease.
My run is dedicated to Peter Martin, Jon Ramey, James Francis Ramey, Marianne Baudler, Malcolm Douglas, Diane Caine, George Webber, Bruce Ellis, Kathy Golden, Sandra Golden, Cindy Haskell, & Maryann Rocicot. Their support and inspiration will help me reach the finish line in Boston on April 15th.
Help me cross the finish line by donating to my fundraising efforts. Together we can help reduce the incidence of Melanoma in the New England area. Let's outrun melanoma!
