Providing a home away from home for families with a child being treated for serious, often life threatening conditions at local hospitals.
Since 1980, Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego has provided a “home away from home” to families with children being treated for serious, often life-threatening conditions at local hospitals.
Far from home and under tremendous stress, these families are often without a place to sleep other than a hospital couch, a costly hotel room, or even their car.
By taking care of the basic necessities of life—a place to stay, meals, computer access, and more—we make it possible for families to focus their attention on the critically ill or injured children who need them so urgently.
Each year, we provide more than 30,000 nights of lodging to family members, along with daytime resources for an additional 16,000 people.
Our cost to care for a family is $150 a night, and includes food, a private guest suite, and House resources. We ask just $15 a night for lodging, but no one is turned away due to inability to pay.
We count on our dedicated volunteers and generous supporters to help keep our House and its resources available to families in their time of need.
Thank you for helping families at San Diego’s Ronald McDonald House!
