Rochester Area Habitat for Humanity
Working together in the Rochester area to build homes, communities, and hope.
Could you help us complete Stephanie’s home?
Stephanie’s day starts at 4:30AM, when she awakes and gets ready for her job at Madonna Towers. Stephanie and her three children, ages 11, 8 and 5, live in a cramped, 2-bedroom apartment that seems to get smaller as the kids get older.
All three children share one bedroom; a passable arrangement when the kids were younger but far from ideal now. On the rare occasion when this family has free time together, they must take care not to make too much noise, which carries quickly through the paper-thin walls to other apartments.
Strangers, traffic, and limited space are always concerns when the kids play in public spaces outside.
We’re planning on working on Stephanie’s home throughout the winter months, and are asking for your help in getting it complete by Spring! First, though, I’d like to tell you a little more about the kids:
Can you feel the energy, the potential, and the excitement of these young lives? I sure can.
Imagine these kids growing, becoming teenagers, and entering high school while still sharing a bedroom and living in this cramped apartment. Now, imagine them moving into a welcoming, affordable, decent home of their own, and envision the adults that they can become!
Can you help this family to have room to play, room to grow, and room to succeed? All they are asking for is a responsible opportunity to pursue the American dream.
Need knows no geographic boundary. Your support gives families throughout our region an opportunity for a better life. Since 2010, families in Mantorville, Kasson, Stewartville, and Rochester have all had fresh starts, thanks to you. In 2013, we will be serving a Dodge Center family, too!
…after a full day of school and other activities, it’s time for practices, dinner, and homework. Then, this family will rest up before the alarm goes off at 4:30AM, and they do it all over again.
Thank you for helping Stephanie, and all of our families, to have a stable home where they can be all that God intends.
