Richard Sheridan November 2012 Volunteer Build it Week Trip
Richard Sheridan fundraising for The Haven Community Foundation US
Haven is working in Haiti to build communities by providing shelter, emergency relief, and by implementing community development programmes.
In 2011, Volunteers at Habitat for Humanity;s 28th annual Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project - along with volunteers from Haven - helped build 155 permanenet houses in the Santo community of Leogane, Haiti, about 18 miles from Port-au-Prince and considered to be the epicenter of the 2010 earthquake.
This year, the Carter Woek Project returns to Haiti, November 24th - December 1st. The project is part of a larger Habitat shelter program funded by the Multilateral Investment Fund of the Inter- American Development Bank and many other donors. Similar to last year, Haven will manage all Carter Work Project logistics, including catering, accomodations and transport throughout the week.
In addition, I will be 1 of 90 volunteers travelling from both Ireland and the US to Haiti with Haven to help build houses on this Novembers Build it Week charity trip. I will be living in basic accomodation, sleeping in tents, on camp beds and working long hours outdoors alongside a local Haitan workforce. Any donations towards my fundraising efforts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much in advance for your kind consideration,
Richard
