PEHS is an Open Door animal shelter serving greater Minnesota since 1985. We promote the value of animals through care and education.
Prairie’s Edge Humane Society is an open door animal shelter, meaning we take them all, including the sick, injured and the old. We do not pick and choose who is the most adoptable, who is the healthiest, who is the least costly to help. Many spend several months with us while they rehabilitate or wait for that perfect home. The photos you see on this site are of Rhonda. Rhonda is a dog who was a stray with a torn ligament in her knee and a dislocated hip. She came into the shelter very scared and in much pain. Our veterinarian surgically repaired the hip, once it had healed enough, he surgically repaired her knee. She spent four months rehabilitating at Prairie's Edge Humane Society with our staff prior to being adopted into a loving home. Animals do not run out of time at Prairie's Edge Humane Society, they stay with us until they are adopted into their forever homes. Rhonda is just one of over 1000 animals that Prairie's Edge Humane Society will help this year. You can help us help other animals such as Rhonda, by donating on line today!
