The eUtah Project lays down a roadmap for a clean energy Utah. Please join me today in supporting a better future!

Dear Friends and Family,

What happens to renewable energy when the sun isn't shining and the wind isn't blowing?"

This question is key to helping transform Utah's energy policy from one that is based on fossil fuels to one that is clean and sustainable.

I want to introduce you to a very important project that is answering this question for the state of Utah. It's called the eUtah Renewable Energy Project (www.healutah.org/cleanenergy/eutah). It is assessing the feasibility of generating all of Utah's electricity from renewable sources by 2050.

The non-profit HEAL Utah is behind this clean energy campaign and I'm helping spread the word and raise funds to support this critical work.

HEAL Utah has worked for over a decade to protect public health from nuclear and toxic waste. In the last year, you may have heard about the controversy surrounding the disposal of depleted uranium, the fight against dumping foreign nuclear waste in Utah, or efforts to stop former State Rep. Aaron Tilton's nuclear reactor proposal for Green River. HEAL is behind all of these campaigns.

The tie that binds all of HEAL's work is the connection between the health of our environment and the condition of public health.

And one of the greatest challenges to both our environment and to public health in the coming years is an energy policy that relies on fossil fuels or nuclear power.

That is why HEAL Utah took up the eUtah Renewable Energy Project: to answer the tough questions about renewable energy and pave the way to a cleaner energy policy for our state.

The eUtah Project is really digging into the weeds in order to help provide a model for what a fully renewable electricity system would look like. They have an impressive coalition of energy experts, engineers, policy wonks, businesspeople, industry insiders, and others helping to shepherd the Project forward (Go to www.healutah.org/cleanenergy/eutah to learn more.)

HEAL expects to release the eUtah report at the end of the year, which will really put the rubber to the road for transforming our state's energy policy.

To make this happen, however, every dollar counts. And HEAL Utah has been given an invaluable opportunity to make this happen with a matching grant from the Cultural Vision Fund.

By July 31st, I am helping HEAL raise the $15,000 they need to receive a matching grant for the eUtah Project!

That's why I'm turning to you. My goal is to raise $350 for eUtah and a new energy policy for Utah.

Will you consider supporting this important work?

The donation amounts listed on the right show how HEAL will put your dollars to work, but they are only suggestions. Any size contribution makes a world of difference! (What's even better, Razoo donates 100% of your contribution to HEAL-- there are zero credit card processing fees, so every dollar is going to support this groundbreaking campaign! And, because HEAL is a 501c3, all donations are fully tax deductible.)

Thank you for joining me in supporting this important work!

Organization Information

  • Summary

HEAL Utah was founded to address the big picture of toxic waste disposal and industrial pollution in Utah's West Desert and throughout the state. Utah's West Desert is home to the largest environmental sacrifice zone in the country. It is burdened with the largest emitter of toxins in the country, aw well as a massive radioactive waste landfill, half the nation's stockpile of chemical weapons and 2 chemical weapons incinerators, a hazardous waste incinerator, a hazardous waste landfill, a proving ground for biological and chemical warfare agents that is contaminated with unexploded ordinance and anthrax spores, a bombing range the size of Rhode Island, and an Army Depot with a large underground plume of carcinogenic water. These facilities emit toxins like PCBs, dioxins, radioactivity, and mercury that can affect our nervous, immune, endocrine, and reproductive systems, and have been linked to a myriad of health effects including cancer, learning disorders, and birth defects.
