Beechtree is dedicated to helping residents achieve and maintain the highest quality of life possible, regardless of ability to pay.

Nestled on a tree-lined street in a residential neighborhood, Beechtree Care Center is a not-for-profit, skilled nursing residence and rehabilitation center located in the heart of the Finger Lakes in downtown Ithaca, New York.

For nearly a century Beechtree Care Center, formerly known as The Reconstruction Home, has remained a vital resource in Tompkins County by responding to the ever-changing health care needs of the community. Our rich history began in 1920 when The Reconstruction Home opened its doors as a home for children recovering from polio. After the polio vaccine was discovered in 1954, the Home transitioned its focus to skilled nursing and rehabilitation for individuals with disabilities, eventually evolving into long-term care for the community’s growing underserved elderly population.

At Beechtree, you'll find a dedicated staff that partners with you, and your loved one, to achieve and maintain the best life possible for your loved one. Every resident receives 24-hour skilled nursing care in a safe and stimulating environment. At Beechtree, every resident is treated with dignity and respect.

Person-Centered Care: Creating Home at Beechtree

Beechtree has implemented Person-Centered Care, a new concept in nursing homes that makes quality of life as important as quality of care. Person-Centered Care means residents are given daily choices that foster individual life-long habits. Residents can get up early, or sleep in. Showers or baths are given when residents like to take them, not when it "works" for staff. We do our best to meet each resident's requests, and when we can't, alternative decisions are made by resident and staff deciding together.

Person-Centered care includes transforming our building to look and feel more like home. Each Unit has become a neighborhood, with proper neighborhood names:

Unit One is now Cayuga Commons

Unit Two is now Treman Terrace

Unit Three is now Seneca Summit

We offer restaurant-style dining, with steaming hot food served fresh from buffet-styled tables in every neighborhood, as well as in our main dining room.

We encourage you to stop by and see for yourself why Beechtree is a place that should be considered when looking for a home for your loved-one.
