REBUILDING TOGETHER SAN FRANCISCO
REBUILDING DAY 2012! PLEASE DONATE OR START YOUR OWN FUNDRAISING TEAM BY CLICKING ON THE MORE WAYS YOU CAN HELP TAB BELOW!!
Rebuilding Day is a citywide renovation effort that is the culmination of a year’s worth of planning and coordination. On Saturday, April 28, 2012, thousands of volunteers renovate non-profit facilities and schools and repair the homes of low-income, disabled and elderly San Franciscans.
Please donate or consider starting your own fundraiser to share with family and friends. With a minimum fundraising contribution you and your group can even sponsor a home and do the renovations for a San Franciscan in need on Rebuilding Day! Just go to the More Ways You Can Help area to the right and sign up yourself or your team!
The Rebuilding Day program repairs and renovates homes of people who, due to age, financial limitations, or disability, cannot do the work themselves. Hundreds of skilled and unskilled volunteers give their time on the last Saturday in April to create safer, brighter, and warmer environments. Repairs and renovations differ from house to house. The work may include: painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, weatherization, clean-up, yard work and other necessary repairs.
•Sheila Sharp is a 75 year old homeowner and widow. Her husband took care of their home maintenance while he was alive. Now that she is widowed, she just doesn’t have the know-how to manage basic home repairs. She has been living without a working furnace for two years now. Unable to afford the $2500+ for a new furnace, she uses her kitchen oven as a heat source for the house, which puts both her health and her safety at risk.
Your fundraising can help the elderly like Sheila live in a warm, safe home! Through changing neighborhoods, we can change lives!
