It's the Twive and Receive Competition! We are competing against other cities for a share of $30,000 in prizes! Donate here on 6/14/12!
lowernine.org is competing in the Twive and Receive competition sponsored by razoo.com! On June 14th, from 2am CST - 2am CST we ask you, your friends, relatives,
neighbors and co-workers to donate to lowernine.org on our Rebuilding NOLA's Lower Ninth! page. The three organizations that raise the most money receive a
share of $30,000 in prize money from razoo.com. Help us be in that number!
SO! Mark your calendars, sign up for a reminder at www.twiveandreceive.com, or put sticky notes on your desk. Whatever it takes, please help us rebuild New Orleans by donating here on June 14th! The more people that donate, the close we come to winning a share of the prize money. And either way, we all win, because your donation will continue to help bring homeowners back to New Orleans' Lower Ninth Ward.
a little about us:
lowernine.org was founded in 2007. We use volunteer labor to rebuild homes of residents in the Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans. The Lower Ninth Ward was arguably the
hardest hit and slowest recovering neighborhood affected by Hurricane Katrina and the ensuing levee breaches of 2005 and many of its residents remain in need of assistance in order to rebuild their homes. Homeowners purchase the
majority of the materials and we provide free labor, which brings the cost of rebuilding down to 1/3 of the current market rate. We have been honored to help over 50 homeowners return to the Lower Ninth and help countless others with smaller maintenance projects.
lowernine.org also operates an urban farm in the Lower Ninth Ward and sells produce to the local community at weekly farmers markets.
Donations to lowernine.org help us to continue to operate, to house and feed our volunteers, purchase tools, transport people and materials, and keep the lights on. We hope to one day get to a place where we are able to assist homeowners with material purchases as well!
