We give real jobs, with real expectations, in real businesses we own, to recovering, re-entering men and women who are ready to change.

The mission of Rebuild Resources is to help addicts and alcoholics be sober, self-sufficient and of service by providing meaningful, transitional employment in business enterprises we own and operate. These enterprises provide a safe, sober, secure, supportive, but non-enabling environment for recovery, AND serve as the economic engines which sustain our work.

Men and women in recovery face many daunting barriers to sobriety and stable employment. Those who need our services are people who are struggling to escape from a generational cycle of poverty, addiction, homelessness and incarceration.

Our Program

The job at Rebuild is the first step on an effective, cost-efficient pathway towards finding more permanent employment elsewhere. We move recovering, re-entering persons from a negative, destrucive cycle to a positive, sustainable future, through a five-part process called Pathways To Success. The components of this model are:

A. A Job in our Enterprises B. A Plan for Moving Forward C. A Safe, Sober, Secure Community D. Training and Coaching Services That Build Job Keeping and Job Seeking Skills E. Connections to Community Partners

Our Impact

A successful program means a changed spirit and a changed life. The Rebuild experience helps participants to:

• Maintain sobriety and build stability in their lives; • Gain transferable work skills and become more valuable employees; • Gain job search and interview skills; • Find living wage jobs; • Create supportive sober networks, both at Rebuild and in the community; • Overcome barriers associated with poverty, addiction and incarceration; • Practice and improve workplace “soft skills;” • Demonstrate leadership and responsibility at Rebuild and in the community through service commitments; • Learn to set goals and make positive choices; • Access training programs and higher education;

Over the past several years, our job placement rate has continued to increase. For 2010, 50% of those who exited our program, left with a job. Considering that the estimated annual cost to incarcerate one person is $30,000 to $45,000, every Rebuild success creates a substantial social savings. We estimate there is $40 of social benefit to society for every $1 that is invested in a Rebuild participant.

Our Enterprises

Our businesses produce the jobs that transform lives, as well as most of the funding that sustains our organization. As a social enterprise, our goal is to fund 80% of our budget from revenue earned by our businesses and the remaining 20% from the generosity of the community. In other words, every dollar you donate is leveraged by four dollars earned in our enterprises!

When our businesses succeed and grow, our mission delivery grows too. Please consider supporting our work not just philanthropically, but also by becoming a satisfied customer.

Our businesses include a Custom Apparel and Promotions business and a Contract Manufacturing business.

For Custom Apparel and Promotions information, including screenprinting, embroidery, digital printing and promotional items, visit http://www.rebuildstore.com

With dynamic social return on investment, and enterprise leverage-ability, a gift to Rebuild is clearly a fruitful way to support our Twin Cities community.

    I am a good friend of the founder, Fred Myers, whose passion and creative entrepenurial spirit has produced a program of intervention into addictive behavior that covers all the factors necssary to give any such effort a reasonable chance of success against one of the most resistive disorders society has ever had to face.His clear understanding of the direct effect excessive drinking has on the exploding prison population in the U.S. has been a break through insight that makes a program like Rebuild a "slam dunk" solution to a condition that, otherwise, is a highly resistent condition to treat succesfully. I'm a clinical psychologist, and I know from first hand experience wahat I'm talking about.
