Mission

At Read Seed Inc., we believe that every child should own books. That’s why it’s our mission to provide children from low-income families with the books that will help them build their literacy skills and achieve academic success.

Programs

Read Seed has been operating in the Triangle of North Carolina since 2002 and we have given out thousands of books to children through numerous programs.

Books In A Bag partners with HUD Housing Authority to build home libraries for every child residing in public housing. Teachers Need Books provide needed books to elementary teachers to build classroom libraries and enhance reading. Community Bookshelf partners with County Welfare/Health Departments and Service Providers to low income families to provide books in waiting areas that encourage family literacy interaction and book ownership. Community Outreach gives books to children for events, schools and programs to improve literacy skills and books ownership for needy children. Seeding Summer Reading expands to six North Carolina Counties to give every child in the selected elementary school a book to spark reading throughout the summer. Spanish Book Drive is the vehicle used to address our growing Latino population. Outreach to children and families with Spanish and Bilingual books will give the education edge needed for success. Statewide Book Giving will change literacy and education in North Carolina. Your support will move us closer to completing this goal.
