QUINTANGO INC

QuinTango, a world-renowned music group based in Alexandria, works with Alexandria City Public School students in classrooms and on stage. We teach dance and music.

My first class was a shock. Students from Sierra Leone, Egypt, Bangladesh, China, Honduras, Togo left violins on the floor and whacked each other with their bows. Fast forward five months: those same fifth graders carefully put their instruments in cases and compete to show who has the best ear. I love watching skills grow and pride shine through.

One young woman wants to take her violin to Africa to play for her grandmother in the village. She just might get to do that - if she keeps working and we can keep coming back.

Is funding for the arts a luxury? When told there was not enough money left after funding the War to fund the arts, Winston Churchill responded, "Then what are we fighting for?"

Please hear our string students and see our student dancers in concert with QuinTango at Minnie Howard on June 8 at 7 PM. By then they will truly look and sound like violinists! Come hear them on June 8!
