The Brady Center works to prevent gun violence through grassroots education and legal action.
Like so many others, I am heart broken by the loss of so many kids and teachers in Newtown, CT. This incident hits especially close to home since my daughter is in elementary school and I am a teacher myself. Routine lockdown drills, which always rattle teachers, will feel much less routine.
The loss of so many little kids at once has shaken me. I ache for the parents and families, and for the kids who survived it but who will never be the same.
It's also reminded me how often kids and adults are killed from gun violence across the country, and in my own neighborhood. My impulse this week is to stick close to my family, connect with my community, and to give to organizations that are fighting for better solutions.
I want to see some positive change emerge from our collective grief. I am giving to the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence. Will you join me?
