The PROP Shop is a nonprofit serving low-income families in Eden Prairie and Chanhassen with free clothing, household goods, and furniture.
The PROP Shop opened in 2007 in response to a community need. A growing number of families in Eden Prairie and Chanhassen were in need of some basic support to weather tough times. Families needed clothing, dishes, towels, beds, dressers and more but had nowhere to turn. Additionally, in the early 2000s, Eden Prairie and Chanhassen saw the largest increase in food shelf usage in the state of Minnesota. Community members began to plan a response to this need -- a nonprofit that would receive in kind donations, give some to families in need, and sell some to pay for its operations and raise money for other local nonprofits like the food shelf.
Now, the PROP Shop is helping these families in need and operates a resale shop in Eden Prairie, MN. The store is full of quality clothing, household items and furniture. The PROP Shop is primarily supported and staffed by enthusiastic and helpful volunteers. Open to the public, the PROP Shop is a terrific place to find great bargains and treasures for your home.
We have a separate client room where local families can receive clothing, housewares and furniture free of charge. We have helped nearly 1,500 families with basic household items and have given out more than 797 beds since we opened in 2007. The PROP Shop is building an addition that will expand the space available for family services by 1,500 square feet and add a private entrance and waiting area. Multiple community partners have contributed to make this addition possible.
We have over 300 active volunteers from around the community and we partner with local organizations to best serve the needs of our clients. Since we opened, we have had more than 1,300 volunteers.
Thanks to all of our supporters, the PROP Shop is now helping over 200 families a month. With your continued support, we can help them even more.
