Project Voice: A Dynamic Approach to Youth Empowerment

Project Voice helps underserved, at-risk youth learn to use their voices to create positive change within their schools and communities.

In its first year, Project Voice: A Dynamic Approach to Youth Empowerment brought in the nationally recognized authors of The Freedom Writers . The authors motivated Michigan youth to build the SCHA-MI Statewide Youth Advisory Council (YAC), representing health, educational, and well-being issues for all children and adolescents in Michigan. With the help of generous sponsors, over 100 youth attended sessions related to youth advocacy, leadership, and empowerment.

In the spring, SCHA-MI would like to build on this momentum to officially kick-off the Statewide YAC. Project Voice will provide youth with cutting edge learning opportunities to give them hands-on experience and advocacy strategies to realize the power of their own voice and become positive catalysts for change in their community.
