Make a Difference in the Lives of Thousands of Young People + Adults

Thank you for considering making a donation to Project U.S.E. and furthering our mission. Project U.S.E. is recognized as a leader in education and serves over 7,000 young people and adults each year through its experiential education, job readiness + life skills, and professional development programs. Specializing in the out-of-the-ordinary, our tools and tactics support academic learning and promote self-respect, strong character and social and environmental consciousness. Many of the young people we work with are from low-income households and would not otherwise be able to afford the empowering hands-on learning experiences gained with Project U.S.E. We pride ourselves on doing more with less and your donations will further our reach. We appreciate all contributions—no matter the amount.

Take the Challenge - Double Your Money!

In addition to the Victoria Foundation’s generous annual funding for our programs with Newark schools and agencies, the foundation has also presented a terrific new opportunity. They have offered a challenge grant to enable us to fund a Development Director, a position that is desperately needed to enable Project U.S.E. to grow. The grant provides a dollar-for-dollar match for any new or increased funds raised during the first few months of 2011.

How will this impact Project U.S.E.?

As you know, the last several years have been extremely challenging for nonprofit organizations. State funding has been cut, private foundations have seen their endowments reduced by a third, and individuals hit hard by the recession have decreased their giving to charities. Project U.S.E. has been impacted by all of these factors; and yet we have persevered to keep Phil’s legacy alive, continuing to serve thousands of young people throughout the year. We recognize, though, that surviving isn’t enough. Cutting staff, reducing overhead, and otherwise shrinking our infrastructure have enabled us to get by in the short term, but these measures will not enable us to grow and expand services in the long term. In our current bare-bones state, it becomes increasingly difficult to devote time, energy and focus to secure resources critical to our mission.

As you might imagine, bringing a Development Director on board will have a significant impact on our ability not just to survive, but to thrive. It will enable us to increase our fund raising and grant writing and, ultimately, deliver more programs and services to kids who really need them. We have a goal of raising $80,000 for this initiative to include salary and operating expenses.

Will you help us meet the challenge?

We encourage you to consider supporting this exciting campaign today. Your generosity always goes a long way when you give to Project U.S.E, and this challenge grant means that you double your money! It is a terrific time to make a gift, as the Victoria Foundation will match every dollar you offer, so your contribution goes that much further. Offer $50 and it turns into $100. A $250 gift becomes $500. And so on. Moreover, an investment in a Development Director position will make those dollars even more valuable to our organization as we create a structure to sustain and grow Project U.S.E. for years to come.

Help us meet this challenge today by making a donation. Thank you for your consideration and generosity.
