We provide education programs in schools and in the community including work with teens in our Teen Council.
All gifts made will be matched dollar for dollar by the Altschuler Family.
Through the power of peer education, using accurate, unbiased sexuality education, Teen Council will end ignorance, promote tolerance, and improve communication between teens and the important people in their lives.
Who We Are
Teen Council is made up of a diverse volunteer student body from local schools. Members come to the group with different beliefs and viewpoints. No one is expected to already know about sexual health and prevention issues. We strive to create a Council that is strong and varied in its membership and work actively to build a group that is anti-racist, anti-sexist, and anti-homophobic.
What Members Do
We create peer to peer dialogue.
We educate as presenters on topics such as HIV/AIDS, STDs, healthy relationships, delaying sex, family communication, and more!
We act as resources by sharing sexual health information with friends and peers.
We participate in weekly meetings and trainings to increase knowledge and skills.
We are part of the solution, while connecting others to this important work.
Safe at School
An anti-harassment/anti-bullying program offered for educators and others who work with youth. This hour program promotes the well being of LBGTQ youth and their peers at school. Educators learn about Utah law and policy and gain strategies for intervening, preventing and creating classrooms free from harassment based on perceived sexual orientation and gender expression.
"As an health instructor at a local university I support Planned Parenthood’s educational activities. Each semester, I am privileged to have a guest lecture from Planned Parenthood discuss reproductive options with my students. The classroom discussion and supporting materials are presented in a clear, concise, and non-judgmental manner. As such, I consistently receive more positive feedback from these presentations than from any other guest lecture I use. I strongly support the Planned Parenthood educational activities in my community."
