We are a K-8 Catholic school serving the culturally diverse communities of Northeast Minneapolis and beyond.
A Catholic school in northeast Minneapolis has been educating children of immigrants since 1853. Pope John Paul II continues this tradition of providing innovative and high-quality Catholic education with emphasis on basic skills and spiritual formation. Our student body is 60% multi-cultural and 73% on free and reduced lunches. We leave no child behind as we continue to provide our urban learners with the tools they need to be successful.
We believe every child deserves a first class education. Children reach for the stars when provided rigorous academic expectations and a structured environment. Pope John Paul II uses differentiated instruction throughout the whole school curriculum. We are an innovative laboratory with our multi-aged and differentiated instruction method of teaching.
All our kindergarten students are beginning readers at the end of the school year, even those whose first language is not English. Our fine arts programming includes both visual and performing arts. Our music program is led by a musician trained at Julliard (New York). Our visual arts program includes canvas, wire and paper sculptures. Research shows a link between art education to problem solving, and critical thinking skills. Our students experience the rehearsal process and see the discipline and dedication it takes to achieve high level music making with our Spring musical productions.
The challenge at this time is to promote investment in the future & stability of this community by providing the means whereby children most at risk and most in need of structure can be served by this school. We seek your assistnace to level the field of educational opportunities for all our children.
