YWLN is working to break the cycle of poverty through education. Please join me in supporting this exciting and important effort!
This summer, I joined the YWLN team and, as many of you know, I have not stopped raving about my job since. I am thrilled to be part of such an inspiring cause and want to invite you to join our efforts. As a first generation college student and graduate of an all women's college, I hold YWLN's programs and goals very close to my heart.
The need for these programs is very high as the college achievement gap in the U.S. persists for both young men and women. Low-income and first-generation-to-college students are less likely to attend college due to lack of preparation and resources. Without the support needed to complete high school and pursue higher education, students end up slipping through the cracks. The benefits of attaining a post-secondary degree are undeniable, especially as the difference in earning potential has only continued to grow in the economic recession. Workers with a Bachelor's degree earn 84% more over their lifetimes than high school graduates!
Since 2001, more than 4,600 low-income students served by YWLN have enrolled in college and CBI counselors have generated nearly $69 million in financial aid and scholarships for our students. Your support will enable us to continue empowering youth to reach their educational potential, making the dream of a good education a reality for over 10,000 young people and their families.
Please make a gift in honor of a YWLN student or someone special to you this holiday season and help us change even more lives. We would be forever grateful for your support.
