Help support me, Molly Consolazio, as I run the Philadelphia Marathon with my dad and raise money for Amazima Ministries!
My dad and I are running the Philadelphia Marathon on November 18, 2012. Along with running this 26.2 mile race, I am raising money to support a charity called Amazima Ministries.
To give you a little bit of background, I have been reading a book called Kisses from Katie by Katie Davis. In her book, Katie describes how she decided to go to Uganda for a mission trip during Christmas break her senior year of high school. She fell so in love with Uganda that she decided to go back to Uganda for one year before starting college, however, she ended up staying there much longer than that. She eventually opened an orphanage and had adopted 13 Ugandan girls by the time she was 22 years old.
Katie now has a ministry named Amazima, which means “truth” in Lugandan. One of the things Amazima has is a sponsorship program. There are currently 600 children in this program, and many of them are from orphanages, not because they’re orphans, but because their parents send them there because that is the only way the child will receive 3 meals a day, an education, and medical treatment.
For $300 a year, you are able to sponsor a child. The way Amazima works is there is “spotlighted child,” and everyone who donates the same month as you receives updates about the spotlight child. Sponsoring a child provides education at a Christian school, school supplies and uniform, 3 meals a day, basic medical care, Christian discipleship, and spiritual growth growth activities for the children and their families and/or guardians.
I’m going to try to raise $2500 to sponsor multiple children for a year. I’m running the Philadelphia Marathon with my dad to support and raise money for Amazima. If you would like to support me, you can do it by mile ($26 = $1 per mile, $52 = $2 per mile, etc) or whatever amount you feel God has put on your heart. Any amount would be appreciated. Please pray about it. Thank you so much!
