Raise money for Concerns of Police Survivors, and the Officer Down Memorial Page.
As you know, I have assisted Concern of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) a great deal in the past through various fund raising and volunteering time with their hands on programs. For the past ten years I have volunteered in Washington D.C. during National Police Week with the surviving children of fallen officers. In addition, for the past two years I have had the opportunity to attend C.O.P.S. Kids summer camp and the C.O.P.S. Walk. C.O.P.S. Camp is a weeklong opportunity for the surviving children to open up about the loss of their parent, as well as to enjoy various camp activities. The C.O.P.S. Walk is a two day, twenty five mile walk in Virginia to raise money for the C.O.P.S. organization. Throughout generous donations I have raised over $2,500 for the C.O.P.S. Walk. This year I have decided to challenge myself further by taking part in the Law Enforcement United Police Ride during National Police Week.
The Law Enforcement United Police Ride is a three day; 250 mile bicycle ride that begins is Chesapeake, Virginia and ends at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. during National Police Week. In order to participate in the bicycle ride each participant must raise $1,250. Last year Law Enforcement United donated $110,000 to C.O.P.S, funding the major cost of summer camp. In addition, Law Enforcement United donated towards the annual golf tournament and the C.O.P.S. Walk, bringing the total amount in 2010 to $115,548. Law Enforcement United also donated $20,000 in 2010 to the Officer Down Memorial Page.
Please assist me in reaching my goal of $1,250 for this year’s ride with a generous donation towards these great causes.
