I am running for three reasons: The Charity, In Memory of Brad Steckline, and Graduation Day
The last time I ran the Boston Marathon it was from the back of the pack. About 15 years ago I decided to jump in and just go for it.
Though I will be an official runner this year, I am going to pretty much do the same thing. For three important reasons.
1) The Charity
- The Michale Linsnow Respite center provides an invaluable service. Families who have somebody that requires around the clock care get little or no break from the demands of being there for a loved one 24 X 7 X forever. The Respite center does just that – taking care of those who take care. A wonderful cause.
2) In Memory of Brad Steckline
- Brad was a longtime EMC employee. A colleague and close friend of mine who died the day before Thanksgiving this year. Last year when I was losing weight and he constantly encouraged me to keep pushing on, providing endless encouragement. He promised to cheer for me if I won a spot on the EMC team. I am dedicating the run to his memory.
3) Graduation Day
- Over the past year I have been on a personal journey to get in better shape through a serious weight loss effort. How much weight? Let’s just say I could be EMC’s version of “The Biggest Looser” . This event represents the capstone of that effort for me.
Well, there you have it. Thanks for your consideration and support – both emotional and financial.
