I am running the 2011 Boston Marathon in support of the G-Row Boston program serving over 200 girls and I need your help!
G-ROW Boston (Girls-Row Boston) was established in 1998 as the first rowing program in the country designed for urban girls. Today, G-ROW offers after school rowing and academic support to 200 girls in the Boston Public Schools. Since the program's inception nearly 100% of participants have gone on to college.
As a current rower at Wellesley College, I completely understand the mental and physical determination and strength that rowing fosters amongst young women. Even from the start of my rowing days in my 2nd year of high school, I was awed by the visible rewards I gained by putting in sweat-dripping, leg-burning hard work. This give and return aspect of rowing truly amazed me and still inspires me to bring this determination and hard work ethic to every other aspect of my life.
I am running for G-Row because I want to make sure that these young girls continue to receive all the opportunities that come from rowing. By supporting me to run this year's Boston Marathon for the G-ROW Boston Program, you are helping me guarantee that more girls will have the option to be part of such an amazing program!
I cannot wait to run Boston, especially for the infamous Wellesley scream tunnel! Most importantly, I will be out there pushing for my goals and with your support, I will be helping young women conquer their own goals.
