We are part of Solace's efforts this year to welcome 20 Afghan children to the LKN area for much-needed medical treatment.
Last year, we joined Williamson's West, a part of Williamson's Chapel UMC in Mooresville. Sandy Tabor-Gray a member of West and WCUMC is one of the leaders in the organization called Solace for the Children of Lake Norman and we had the pleasure of meeting her. She told us about Solace and shortly after we had the opportunity to meet many of the children who came here in 2011. Our hearts melted after meeting these children, especially Pete who was fortunate enough to speak the same language as many of them. In fact, it was Pete who said to me that Sunday, "We have to get involved with this. We have to do this." So here we are in 2012, and we are so excited to be expecting a special guest for the summer. Asking for money is not something we enjoy doing, mostly because we don't enjoy it when others do it to us! But, this is an easy way to get the word out there in a nonintrusive way. Give if you can; don't if you can't. I promise you that it's a very good cause. We hope you'll get the chance to meet our Afghan visitor this summer! Thank you for taking the time to read this. Blessings -- Dorothy and Pete
