I'm not a runner...never have been. So what could make me want to run a half marathon and think that I could actually complete it? It's the girls and their families who live with Rett Syndrome every day...they live in a prison from which there is hope that one day there will be an escape. If they can do that, then I can certainly do a half marathon in their honor.

I joined the board of this non-profit last year because I liked the story, and I loved Ingrid's passion around finding a cure for her daughter and the thousands of other girls with Rett. I love the joy and hope the families bring to their Rett girls every day. I am grateful and blessed to have a daughter who can help find the cure with her own voice and action, who can speak and act for the Rett girls who cannot do that for themselves.

I ask for your help - whether you've ever heard of Rett, whether you do or don't know someone who know's someone with a Rett girl - regardless of this I ask that you open your heart, mind and wallet to the possibilities that we are so very close to a cure and these girls can gain some real quality of life. We can help the girls who are trapped today and help the one girl born every 90 minutes with this disorder.
